Safety Town

In cooperation with the Lorain City Schools and the Lorain City P.T.A.

Safety Town is located at Southview High School, on the corner of East 42nd Street and Grove Avenue.

In conjunction with the Lorain Police Department, and the Lorain City Schools, Safety Town will be open for all children living in the City of Lorain entering kindergarten in the fall.

Our Safety Town Program is a one week course that is designed to teach your child safe practices both at school and at home. The children are instructed on when, where, and how to cross the street. They are taught school bus safety, fire safety, poison control, and how to handle strangers. Safety Town is conducted Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM during the summer months.

Registration cards for Safety Town are handed out when students are enrolling in kindergarten during March/April. The registration card should be completed and returned to Mrs. Robin Smith as soon as possible (card is pre-addressed to Ms. Smith). The classes are filled on a first come first serve basis, beginning with the Lorain City Schools registration.

You will be contacted by phone by Robin Smith around the end of May as to the date your child is to attend. We will contact those students who send in a registration card with a TELEPHONE NUMBER listed. If you do not have a phone at home, we will need a phone number of a person who can take the information for you.

Classes will be limited to 60 children per week. Again, this will be on a first come, first serve basis. Classes will be broken into 25 per group.

The next Safety Town will start on Monday, June 25, 2007. There will be no Safety Town classes during the week of July 4th. If we have enough sign ups, Safety Town will be extended in August.

The Lorain Safety Town is FREE. Only instructors and children will be allowed on the Safety Town Course during the instruction periods. For a Safety Town schedule, click here.

Your cooperation is appreciated.
