Lorain Police Memorial Unveiled

Several years ago Lorain FOP Lodge #3 and Chief Rivera established a committee to construct a memorial to honor Lorain’s three officers who died in the line of duty: They include Charles Deal, Fred Webber and George Kirk. The project went through multiple changes throughout the years, and finally it was decided to locate the memorial in front of City Hall, alongside the Workers Memorial (erected by the Lorain County AFL-CIO and USWA Local 1104). A bronze statue of a Lorain Police Officer was purchased from Brodin Studios after the first set of pavers were sold to the public. A granite base was purchased later from Milano’s Monuments and the landscaping and installation was completed by Mark McIlwaine Lawn Maintenance. Jim Campana, Inc. generously donated all of the concrete work. With the support of the FOP, the Lorain Police Department, citizens and local businesses we were finally able to complete this $30,000 project…and pay tribute to these three officers who gave their all on behalf of the citizens of Lorain. On Friday, June 4, 2010, the memorial was finally unveiled at a dedication ceremony.

We invite you to visit our page entitled In Memoriam for additional personal information about the these three officers who made the ultimate sacrifice serving this community. We also encourage you to stop by to visit the memorial in front of the Lorain Police Department.
