We would like to extend a most sincere, thank-you to all the assisting agencies who participated in the search and rescue/recovery operation for Officer William Brown who accidentally drowned after a boating accident during the early hours of August 26th. The mission incorporated mutual aide from numerous departments and civilian personnel including, but not limited to: the U.S. Coast Guard, Lorain County Sheriff's Department, Lorain Fire Department, Sheffield Lake Police Department, Avon Lake Police Department, Amherst Police and Fire Departments, Vermilion Harbor Patrol, Rocky River Marine Patrol, Ohio State Patrol, Cleveland Police Department Marine Patrol, American Red Cross, Lorain and Vermilion Police Chaplains, Ohio Search Dog Association, Mr. Herbert Rosenthal of Patriot Aviation, Mr. Russ McNeal of Underwater Dive Center, and Dr. Schaffer, owner of Beaver Park Marina. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation are extended to all individuals and agencies, including our personnel, for their assistance, generosity, and comfort provided to all during this tragic time.
